This is me in the MESA state competition with Ola. MESA means Math, Engineering, Science Achievement. The state competition is for the highest school in each county.

That is Andrew controlling the storybook theme park ride. Ours is The Bee Ride.

This is me, Tatiana, Ola and Cayman listening to instructions for the math slope group. We look at a graph, then we have a certain amount of time to think of a story to go with it.

Now we are writing our story. It was a story about a girl named Mary, who got chased by a squirrel throwing nuts at her. The squirrel stole her ice cream.

Hooray! We are finished.

Now we are waiting to give our presentation to the judges.

We saw that some of the other kids had gotten some chips! We were mad that they didn't get us any!

This is the Effective Communications group presenting. Their skit was about an alien who crashed into earth.

Right now we are playing blackjack. We're waiting to get our trophies.

I am waiting to hear if my group won a trophy. I am nervous because I wanted to win!

We won! We won four trophies. My group won second place in the whole state!
