camping at lake moomaw, page 1
The weekend before July 4, we went with friends camping in the George Washington National Forest at Lake Moomaw, a man-made recreational lake.

Good morning! Holly wakes up in the tent. It was her first time camping.

Holly hangs out with Kate. There were nine kids on the trip,
and seven of them were girls.

Paige roasts marshmallows. Marshmallows before lunch? Why not!
This is Gathright Dam, which regulates the Jackson River
and creates
Lake Moomaw.

L-R: Kate, Thea, Faith, Ally, Paige, Colin and Lea. It's nearly
impossible to get everyone smiling at once.

Holly in her own Holly-sized tent. She plays all right for a few
minutes but always manages somehow to get out the door
and eat dirt.

Who wants to go on the tubes? Thea and Paige do! We spent the better
part of three days cruising Lake Moomaw on a pontoon boat.

Jeff takes Ally and Faith for a ride on the Sea-Doo.

Thea and Kate are life-jacketed and
ready to get on the tubes.

Lea entertains Holly on the boat.

Moms apply sunblock, buckle life jackets, etc.

Thea gets settled on the tube.

Thea and Kate awaiting the tug of the boat.

And they're off!

Holly enjoys the wind on her face.

It's a beautiful clear day on the lake.

The Sea-Doo goes speeding by with Faith at the throttle. She got it
up to 57 mph (top speed is 60 mph).

Thea and Kate riding the wake.

Ally, Jeff and Faith pull the Sea-Doo up alongside the boat.

Faith doesn't hesitate to swim through the open water between the
Sea-Doo and the boat.
