I've always loved writing, especially fiction. I wrote a lot between the ages of four and eighteen, but as I "grew up" I found that real life too easily crowded out my dream of being a novelist.
In 2002 I came across NaNoWriMo, a challenge to write a 50,000 word novel in the 30 days of November. I completed the challenge in 2002, 2003, and 2004 and even wrote a fourth novel over the 2003 summer. However, in November 2005 I was putting all my energy into finishing my college degree and although I made an attempt at writing a short story during Nano, it bottomed out after less than 11,000 words. My excuse for failing in 2006, with 14,309 words written, was that I was eight months pregnant. It was hard to use a laptop when I had no lap. In 2007 I had three kids, including an infant, a full-time job and a part-time job. I didn't have time to wash dishes, let alone write.
In 2008... who knows?
